MELL’s debut single release Red Fraction featured IVE Sound’s trademark combination of a heavy groove and distortion. Her fascinating voice spread first through the insiders of the Japanese music industry, but when she started to perform live, her superb stage presence and passionate singing made her tour an instant sensation.

With her second smash hit-Proof, she expanded on her image of heavy and dark sound, by contrasting it with a more nuturing lyrics and sound that bring together all ages with her music.
Unique among the other artists on IVE Sound, such as KOTOKO, Mami Kawada, Eiko Shimamiya and Kaoru Utatsuki, MELL worked with founders Kazuya Takase and Yasutaka Ipposhi even before they had their own label. Her unmistakable voice over Kazuya’s arrangements created a new genre, and has quickly grown a strong following in Japan.
